2013 Language Theater Contest: Get Involved!
February 28, 7:30 pm, Blanchard Great Room

The Language Theater Contest has once again come upon us very quickly! For this event to be a success, it always takes a lot of teamwork as well as the enthusiastic and generous efforts of our wonderful sponsors, volunteers, and contestants. Last year’s efforts certainly paid off; we had a wonderful group of talented performers, great judges, and a big, supportive crowd! It’s a brand new year, and that means fresh languages in the Valley, fresh acts on the stage, and fresh faces in the audience. It’s time to make a big push now as we reach our February 28th goal.

This is a great way to both challenge and strengthen your language skills. Many of our contestants have performed successfully solo or in groups of several people. Some faculty have actually used this contest as a supplement to their courses--even as an assignment option. We already have applications rolling in, but to encourage more participation we have extended the due date; now you can submit your apps until Wednesday, the 20th. Our community outreach team has been hard at work, and their charisma has helped us gain the sponsorship of almost 20 businesses and organizations (the names of whom are listed on the poster below) across the Pioneer Valley whose donations currently total over $400 in value. You do not want to miss the chance to win these incredible prizes!

Furthermore, we are also searching for volunteers to judge acts, mentor contestants on their performances and/or language usage at the dress rehearsal, emcee for the event night, and help out behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. If you are interested in being a part of this year’s LTC, please contact the LRC (lrc@mtholyoke.edu). We appreciate your support and look forward to working with you to put on another great show.
