MHC Sports Club vs. Snowstorm & Sickness

Nov 10, 2011 by Stephanie Roses

Hello all!

The past few weeks have been a roller coaster for the Mount Holyoke Sports Club in the CONNECTIONS after school program at the Peck School. We usually bring a varsity or club sports team into the Peck School each Tuesday to teach elementary age kids about athletic opportunities, higher education and healthy lifestyles. Last week, the snowstorm kept Holyoke Schools closed (and me stranded in Amherst) and this week I was too sick to run the program - luckily the amazing staff at Peck was quick on their feet and the kids had a board games day. With these difficulties, it's been tough to hit our stride this semester. This is why I'm really excited that our varsity soccer team will come to Peck next Tuesday and set up drills and games for the kids to get back into the swing of things! I am in the planning stages with the soccer representatives now, and it's looking to be a fun day. Volleyball will be at Peck the Tuesday afterwards, right before Thanksgiving break, so I should have some fun stories and perhaps a photo or two of our club to bring back then!

Hope everyone was safe during the storm and got their flu shot before me!
