Shanghai, Here I Come!: Linnea Johnson '13

Dajia hao! My name is Linnea Johnson and I’m from Northfield, Minnesota. I just finished my sophomore year at MHC, where I am majoring in Asian studies and geography. I’ll be spending the summer studying Mandarin Chinese in Shanghai at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics with the Critical Language Scholarship. I am beyond excited! My adventure begins June 9 at an orientation in Washington, D.C., where I will be addressed by Department of State officials and sign away my right to speak English for the next nine weeks (i.e., I will sign a 24-hour language pledge). But don’t worry—I’ll still be able to blog in English!  


Linnea, So nice to hear you're going to Shanghai. I'm staying at SHUFE too and I'm working for China Economic Review for the summer. Let's meet at some point and have a chat! Thu
