Galileo’s Muse in the Library Court

Nov 23, 2011 by Jennifer King

Archives and Special Collections presents an exhibition of materials that Mount Holyoke professor Mark Peterson used in researching his recent book, Galileo’s Muse: Renaissance Mathematics and the Arts.  From Euclid to Dante Alighieri and from Vincenzo Galilei to his son–Galileo Galilei himself–we explore the art behind the mathematics and the mathematics behind the art, while displaying the wealth of Mount Holyoke collections that contributed to this work’s production.

Curated by Professor of Physics and Mathematics Mark Peterson and Special Collections Student Assistant Alena McNamara
